Success 101 Fellows ~ 1st Alumni Class
(Spring Semester, 2003)
I can't imagine entering
today's job market without the practical tools, knowledge and opportunities
that Success 101 has provided me. Thank you for equipping me with
what it takes to reach my business goals.
~ Travis Moore, Senior, Industrial Psychology Major
(Seattle, Washington) Success
101 was a class full of dreamers. There are a lot of dreamers on college
campuses but, unfortunately, not many schools offer them direction... not many
professors are qualified to teach students about the real world. I was looking
for that direction. Success 101 offered me not only that, but inspiration and
real-life examples as well. I called the professors on their cell phones late
at night to discuss ideas for future endeavors. I connected with other
students to run schemes past them. Those who wanted a summer internship left
the class with one and everyone left with the skills to get one. Success 101
is a class that every school should have... but hardly any do. Success 101 is
a class the will turn dreamers into entrepreneurs.
~ Bradley T. Carter, Freshman, Studio Art & Intl. Business
Majors (Poway, California)
Success
101 taught me important and useful things
I should know about business; something that you'll never learn in regular
business classes. These teachings helped me secure an internship with
Merrill Lynch this semester and I'm confident that I will continue to have an
edge over others because of the experiences I gained through the class.
~ Yuki Choi,
Senior, International Business Major (Tokyo, Japan) Success 101 class has
really benefited me in ways that I never thought were possible in an
undergraduate education. Not only do I feel more confident in my
interviewing, networking and business protocol skills in general, but I also
feel like I have a head start in the professional business world that
many of my peers don't receive in school. Each and every
one of the speakers had had inspiring stories of success to share, from a
multitude of different backgrounds and I feel like I would be able to call any
one of them up, anytime for possible job opportunities. Also, the
internship I was able to obtain during this class has provided me with
incredible opportunities, including a summer internship at the U.S. Department
of Commerce in the Madrid, Spain office.
~ Monica Keyes,
Junior, Intl. Management Major (Ruidoso, New Mexico)
Success 101 provided an invaluable
learning environment regarding the practical aspects of the business world, as
well as a unique opportunity to interact with industry professionals. The
dedication of the courses instructors to the students is greatly appreciated.
I was also able to secure a great summer internship at MTV working for the
manager of concert touring who was a speaker in our class. Now, where else can
you take a college course and walk away with an internship at MTV?
~ Zoe Piper, Senior, Economics & Communications Majors
(Canberra, Australia)
"Get this: I came from a small mountain town of 800
people in Colorado where the biggest business employs
probably less than 50 people! However, this class not
only introduced me to the business world, but also
taught me how to thrive in it. The instructors
personally helped me create a resume, which landed me a
summer internship with Clear Channel Communications,
where I did promotions for Denver's five major FM radio
stations. Now, a semester later, the instructors are
still guiding me as I try to land an internship at the
White House for the upcoming spring semester! Thank you
so much. If you want to find the fast track to success,
take Success 101."
~ Ty
Robben, Freshman, Pre-Business Administration (Walden,
Colorado)
Thank you so much for the
experience of this class! I have
learned so much and have already used much of what I learned. I am more motivated than ever to succeed after not only hearing the
speakers, but getting to know the other students in class who are so driven
and focused to succeed
~ Karen Fujimoto, Freshman, Advertising
& PR Majors (Hacienda Heights, California)Success
101 has been an
inspirational experience. Not
only have I been motivated to embark on a path of achievement, but I have also
come to truly believe in myself. I
now have no doubt that personal and professional successes are within my
reach. I was also able to secure three informational
interviews with executives from different industries and secure an internship
for the summer.
~ Amy Ma,
Sophomore, International Business Major (Las Vegas, Nevada) Success
101 is a class like no other. What other college course has no
theoretical final, but where the professor is helping the student secure a
summer internship? This course teaches the practical aspects every college
student needs in order to succeed in the business world. The way I look
at it is that Business degree is like the engine, but it takes the frame,
tires, and gasoline of Success 101 to truly make college graduates achieve
their full potential. I was also able to secure an internship from one of the
guest speakers who came to class and I look forward to learning a lot working
there.
~ Chadron Edwards, Freshman, Business Major (Brighton,
Colorado) Thank you for all that have
done for the students in this course. I truly hope that more students will be
able to be blessed by Success 101 next year.
~ Courtney Scott,
Freshman, Accounting Major (Brea, California)
Success 101 has inspired me to make the most out
of every opportunity. It is a class that gives students practical
experiences rather than theoretical knowledge. From networking events and
internships, to actual speakers who know personal success, the class is
preparing young professionals for the real world of business.
~ Donald M. Williams,
Freshman, Math & Business Majors (Whittier, California)
I just can't get over how helpful that this class has
been and will be for me. I wish I had a video
camera so that I could record every class and have
every single little insider tip or lesson there for me
to review and remember.
Thank you so much for all of the time you have given, and insight you have
provided!
~ Tyler Kleban, Freshman,
Business Admin. & Music Majors (Walden, Colorado) Success 101 has been a
wonderful opportunity to be introduced to a variety of industries. After taking this class, I have a more clear understanding of my
strengths and interests and look forward to exploring many of them.
~ Gina Marotta, Freshman, Business Admin. Major (Thousand Oaks,
California) Success
101 brings real life experiences to the classroom that cannot be learned in
textbooks. The instructors' business "know-how" has given me
the courage to turn those inevitable falls into positive learning experiences.
~ Jason Enriquez,
Freshman, Intl. Business Major (Santa Barbara, California) Quite
simply, this course teaches you the skills that you need in the real world of
business. There is no other class like it! The instructors and the guest
speakers have generously shared their secrets to success.
~ Jonathan Hudson, Freshman, Business Major (San Diego,
California)
I am definitely more
business aware and more prepared for the world outside of college. Thank
you for offering this course and for bringing in all of the great guest
speakers.
~ Justin Garvin,
Freshman, Undecided Major (Lake Forest, California) Thanks for everything
-- it's been a great course and all of the speakers were very applicable and
inspiring!
~ Kelly Dahl,

program...highly recommend any college student to
attend Success 101.
~ Nelson Artigas,
Senior, International Business Major (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) Success
101 has helped me prepare for the real world of business. Through all the
guest speakers and informational sessions on job interviews, networking, and
general business etiquette, I have been coached to be more refined in my
professional manner. Thank you for the inspiration and practical
insights! Thanks so much!
~ Virginia Ferguson, Freshman, Intl. Business
Major (Monument, Colorado)
Success 101 is an unforgettable
experience. This class provided me tremendous
practical knowledge about the business world as well
as personal advice from 17 guest speakers who came to
class to share their career stories with us. I was
also able to secure an internship at Prudential Real
Estate where one of the guest speakers works. This is
an AAA-rated class not only for college
students who are interested in business but for
everyone who is interested in career networking.
I am very happy that I didn’t miss this wonderful
opportunity.

Management Major (Tokyo, Japan)
